Default projected tip or non-projected tip spark plugs

I'm going to get some autolites but should i get projected or non-projected tips and what is the difference???

How far the tip of the spark plug sticks into the firing chamber. OEM is non projected. Stick with the OEM style or you could risk smacking a plug with a piston.
