I tryed the throttle linkage, the butterfly is coming open all the way and I cleaned the MAF but it still only revs up to around 4500.

does it actually bounce off the limiter? cause if so, the tach could be off.

My Bronco is EEC-IV, and it goes past 4250, it will go as high as it wants until valve float...
ORIGINAL: fats429

For what this is worth the trucks and big SUV that use EEC-4 have a rev limmiter at 4250

ummm..why would you want to free rev your motor to red line? Your likely to do damage to it. Not sure about your year car but 99+ all have revlimiters. If you're not in gear (moving) and you just stomp on the gas in neutral (or with the clutch pushed in), the computer will bounce you around 4-4 1/4K. When you hit that RPM, it starts cutting the fuel to the cylinders. Under a load, the cutoff is around 6250. Unless you've changed some internals on your engine or it's a weekend race only car, why worry about it on a daily driver?

You're only inviting valve float...

It does this weather the car is moving or not. The real power comes in at about 3200 so my power band is very small and no fun. I will change the fuel filter to see if that helps out
