Default 1994 Mustang Engine Swap

I have a 94 Mustang and I want to go to a 5.0 from the 3.8L. Is it possible to use the motor and computer from the 88 and up 5.0L mustangs? The emissions said that they would dyno test the car instead of OBDII test so thats not a problem. My question is would the motor and computer work with the new car? I have an auto trans it in.

It's a 5.0 so it sould work, but not sure about the wireing harness's. You might be better off using the engine from the 88 and getting a engine wireing harness and computerfrom a 94 or 95 in a junkyard. Not sure about the trans, But i don't think the 3.8 auto trans will work.

I did some research and the trans that sits behind the 3.8 will bolt to the 5.0L. I have a wiring harness off of a 95GT. Do you all think that would work with the older motors though (88-93)? The only reason I am looking into this is because the older motors are easy to find. Its kinda tough to find a newer (94-95) motor. Anyone have any ideas I would appreciate it.

you'll need a complete wiring harness and have to wire it in and you'll need to swap out the v-6 k-member for a 5.0 one and best get a 5.0 trac loc 8.8 while your at it

I think the last few cougars/thunderbirds/crown vics before the 4.6 went into them had the newer style accessory postioning and manifold or you could get an explorer motor and get the better heads and manifold, i dont know what the wiring but if you have the new harness i cant see why you couldnt make it work. Sombody else will clarify this im just trying to think of my friends 91 thunderbird, and those cars would be alot easir to find in a junk yard then a 5.0 sn-95, if im right.

When you say you have to wire it in what excately do you mean? I'll need to spice wires and such or I'll just have to connect the connectors and such?
