RE: couple questions
I think '84s have the 7.5 rear end. I know my '85 does. And I'm pretty sure the headers and h-pipe and dual exhaust will fit your car too. The only problem is that '85 and older models have a single hump tranny crossmember. So you'll need a tranny crossmember out of an '87 and newer model. And by hump... I mean... it only has a raised section for the exhaust to go under on the passengers side. The newer ones have a "hump" on both sides for the exhaust. Here's a picture of an 8.8 rear end. Look under your car and count how many bolts there are on the cover...... If it's the same as the picture. Than you already had an 8.8 swapped in.

RE: couple questions
I'm pretty sure the 7.5in and the 8.8in look similar so counting bolts isnt a good ID
try to get the exhaust for a 1986 GT, plus the dual hump tranny member from a junkyard or ebay
