1992 Mustang Wire harness Are there two different types of wiring harness on the FOX?
Hello everyone!
I have a technical question about the right side wiring harness under the hood of a 1992 5.0 Mustang convertible that I just bought. The previous owner told me that one of the air bag sensors could be bad, so I bought the car anyway... (I knew it wasn't a perfect car, but the price was what I wanted to pay for a toy)
After getting the car home, the symptom is that I'm getting a flashing air-bag light on the dash. Error #41. "Open connection in forward crash sensor circuit" So I did the logical thing, and started looking at the front crash sensors, and tracing the harness back. On the left (driver) side of the engine compartment, everything is connected, and it looks correct. On the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment, the front crash harnesses comes back and ends at the front of the strut tower. There is nowhere on the existing harness that these sensors plug into. My questions are these:
1. Are there different harnesses for the left/right of the 1992's? (It looks like there is one on the left, and another on the right, and they cross over each other)
2. Could this side of the harness be from a different year, that didn't have the airbag?
3. Where is there a good source for finding the correct replacement harness?
4. The previous owner alluded to installing a "Ford Racing harness". Could this be why there are no plugs for the crash sensors?
5. If the car doesn't have the original engine, will the correct harness even work?
-Bill
Thanks in advance for your help! (I'm new here)

RE: 1992 Mustang Wire harness Are there two different types of wiring harness on the FOX?
If it were only that simple, I would have seen the connectors, and plugged them in. (I think)
I'm learning a little about this car each day. It's one of a few things:
1. I's a "Ford Racing" wiring harness, like the previous owner alluded to.
2. The engine and harness are from a model/year Mustang that did not have an airbag. (Pre 1990)
I found the correct harness for the car, but it's $300.00. I was hoping to spend a bit less. (Just to make the dash light stop flashing)
