331 stroker build
ORIGINAL: aode08
This guy is starting a build, a N/A build,a N/Anewcomer mistake build.
We know he wants the most power and a reliable engine for a daily driver.
Plenty of 331 owners, have wish they went 347 and we want to make sure he is happy, has a reliable motorand not touching this engine for at least another 10+ years.
So while the engine is out, thats the time to consider that option.
With modern technology, you'll need every cube to keep up, there is no replacement for displacement.
Ive been through several 331 setups personally
and will never go back.

331 ftw, PERFECT rod ratio for the 5.0 block, use LESS GAS and DOES NOT have overheating issues

wow this thread's got more misinformation in it than any i've ever read on here.
my setup was a 347 with ci cam, holley intake, and canfield 195's, and i loved it!
very powerful, so as far as hci advice i've gotta recommend that setup.
however if i could go back i'd prolly get the eddy rpm2 intake versus the holley, it took too much extra work to get it to fit.
just my .02 cents!
and to everyone on here supporting the 331's, if you want one then get it, but there are no disadvantages between 331 and 347 other than the 331 being smaller.
like i've been told the ONLY reason you'd go 331 is if you want less power for the same money or if your putting the car in a certain race class and a 347 is too big.
goodluck with your build!

Id go with something in the165s or find a set of GT40's since it is aDD. The trackheat would be way too big for aDD too... Id stick to a pretty mild setup and you will still add 150hp over a stock 302... Id buy one of those top end kits from holly or edelbrock for $2k that includes everything, well almost...
