OK here goes.

New MSD Pro Billet Distributor for 351W

New Blaster 3 Coil

MSD 6AL (not new but working before mods)

ok i took off both valve covers and saw that #6 would show TDC on the damper also. so i rotated engine till #1 went square and TDC on balancer was showing.

Stabbed Dizzy and put rotor at the point where i put the #1 wire.

used 13726548 firing order in a CC direction.

Hooked MSD to Dizzy via supplied green and purple wires.

Have MSD wired up with orange to pos on coil and black to neg on coil.

Have Big red wire to constant positive and small red to switch power.

When i test the MSD i put the coil wire on the stud of the water pump and jumper the green and purple in the supplied wire. i can hear the MSD itself chirping when i remove the jumper just like MSD says.....but i would think i would hear a pretty big electrical pop from the coil wire.....nothing.

When i spin the engine there is nothing tha even sounds like spark plugs firing....


anyone got a suggestion.

did you verify the #1 cylinder is on the compression stroke?

Yes. Intake valve open and closed etc. then i verified the piston on top. Here is a question for ya'll. what voltage should i read on the + side of the coil. shouldn't that be about 480 volts. mine is reading 0.0 to 0.3.

not sure on the voltage, did the timing marks line up on the balancer at tdc? how do you know you dont have spark? did you take out a plug, and hold it close to a ground while cranking it over to see if it sparks?

use a spark checker to verify spark and and you need a test light and multimeter to perform msd verification of operation tests....easiest way to eliminate known goods is substitute a known good coil if it still won't fire up and timing is correct and you have no spark and dizzy is new.. most likely a box with fubar for one reason or another

I went out and re checked the MSD spark check and this time i got a different result. I slid thge coil wire over the stud on the water pump and jumpered the green and purple wire and while i was simulating the Mag pick-up i slid the coil wire a little closer to the stud and sure enough lots of poppin when i was triggering....

Now im back to F'd up timing. i cant figure out why it is wrong..... i did the steps i said at the top of the post.

What ive found is that 289/302 have 15426378 and 302 HO and 351w 400 etc use 13726548.

Thats what im going by.
