Transmission Question

The AOD transmission in my 89 5.0L LX is starting to slip and I can feel it slowly dying... I have a 1991 2.3L Mustang LX that has a good transmission, and I was wondering if the tranny from the 91 would fit in in the 89... I'd like to be able to work on one transmission (the 91) while the other car is still driveable, without having to buy another one, so, any info would be great...

the only time you can do something like that is if u have a stick shift because the bellhousings are interchangeable

Ok, I just got ahold of a guy near me, and he says he has an AOD transmission out of a 84 mercury marquis wagon... He said is in "excellent" shape, and is willing to sell it for $100... just wondering if this would fit my 89 5.0 LX?
