wont start!
installed new head gaskets, intake manifold, l/t headers, h pipe and after h exhuast. everything is back together and its cranking but wont spark up, would the timing be the same as it was with the stock intake and exhaust manifold or would it have to be advanced at all?
i pulled a plug and its getting fuel i did a spark test and its getting spark its coughed a few times so i know its getting air but why wont it start.
thanks

RE: wont start!
first make sure the distributor is installed correctly = when number 1 is at tdc rotor on cap should point to number 1 on the cap.. make sure your not 180 out and while cranking motor rotate dizzy and see if it'll fire up

RE: wont start!
ok well i did that and got it started after some tweaking, it wont start everytime or very easily and when it is running the rpms bounce by about 250rpm it wont stay running if i let off the throttle i can manually idle it but as soon as i let go she dies, im thinking because the intake manifold i put on had the mounts in a different placefor the throttle cable bracket that there could be some slack in the cable but that wouldnt explain why it wont stay running,
im going to buy a timing light today so if i can get it running again ill be able to set it at 14*
any suggestions on why it wont start very easily? im tired of spending 5 minutes to get it to run, andi dont want to wear out the starter
thanks

RE: wont start!
if you pulled the distriutor to do the intake ..which I assume you did then you need a timing light to set timing and then once that is set at a base of 10 for stockor for peformance 13 to 15 base then you'll need to adjust idle
