Default 93 Cobra heads VS Alumin. GT40s

Just wondering what the difference in flow is between the two heads. I have chance to pick up some cheap cobra heads and I'm just wondering if its worth the hassle. I know the aluminum heads are lighter, but do they flow better? Assuming both have the same valvetrain.

thanks

I wasnt assuming anything. Let me rephrase. If the valvetrain is the same in both heads, which will flow better?

Not that it has any bearing on this question, but the price is $250 bucks.

actually, the price of the cobra heads has ALL the bearing on this question. If they were $100 I'd say scoop them up ASAP.

the GT-40X heads do flow better than the Iron GT-40's but not by alot. If you are looking at buying the GT-40 aluminums new... look elsewhere, you can get MUCH better heads for little more money.

However, if you are just looking to add a few extra "cheap" ponies to your ride, and not looking for an all out h/c/i swap. the cobra heads are a good choice.. Mill them down slightly, and grind the thermactor bumps out of the exhaust.

Just for numbers sake... my cobra, with exhaust, CAI, UDP's and 15° timing made 253rwhp and 294tq.. most GT's with similar mods, barely break 200rwhp

Thanks for the input. Currently the car has a cobra intake, E or F cam(not sure), intake, exhaust, xpipe, dampner, 70mmTB, UPR rear suspension, and a 125 shot. I'd like to put a supercharger on it soon, but dont want to regret using the stock heads. I think the cheap Irons will work well for my budget.

Thanks again.
