Default have a problem. HELP!!!

took my car in to a shop to get my accelerator cable replaced because of high idle problems. now the AOD doesnt want to kickdown when i push the peddle down! i took it back to have it adjusted for free and its doing it again. they said a plastic piece may be broken. i shifted it by hand and it kicked down just fine! where can i find a new tranny cable? is that costly? should i look for a new mechanic?

more than likely you need a new nylon TV cable bushing
watch this video, he refers to the bushing

the TV cable could be the cause of the shifting problem but it wouldn't be related to the pedal sticking. take the car to a reputable transmission shop like AAMCO, and quickly. the problem you're having can have too many causes and all of them have short time-frames available to fix before kaboom.

the throttle valve determines when to kick it down a gear under moderate or heavy acceleration, misadjusted and it'll do it too soon or to late, tv pressure is important to set properly for trans life

maybe he did, maybe it's just inconvenient timing. i suggest you stop asking how he screwed it up and actually take a look at it. the longer you drive it like that, the more you're risking completely blowing the transmission up.

i dont drive it. just tried to adjust it myself and took for a ride. its better now but still isnt completely fixed! its kinda hard have someone look at it when they give it a glance and say get a new one. i got a better chance of finding Bigfoot!!!
