I have a 95 5.0 and it wont start im pretty good with cars but im not sure what to try next, the past week its been having trouble starting it was like the battery was going dead than it would fire up its like i had a dead battery or something, and today it wont start it wont even crank, it wont click it doesent do anything when i turn the key but the stereo headlights and everything turn on the head lights are really bright too and i tried hooking up a battery charger on engine start mode and it still wont work any idea's? i also tried banging on my starter with a hammer and still nothing i tried switching the starter relay with other ones that were on the distribution box and still nothing i dont know what relay it is but i switched them all around and still nothing... the car did this the other day it was doing the same thing as it is now and i tried a few times and it would not work than i tried again and it fired right up, its weird. now it wont work at all so ??? thanks guys

Starter. Do you have aftermarket longtube headers?
Ah nevermind, read your sig. You may have an overheating starter, depending on how close the pipe is to the starter. Try letting the car cool down completely, and then see if it starts. If it still does nothing then I'd replace your starter. If it does start, try heatwrapping the pipe where it passes the starter.
One more thing, your solenoid may be going bad. I'd replace that first, it's cheap to do. If that does nothing, then move on to the starter.

if it starts when jumping the selonoid but not with the key make sure the small wire from ignition to selonoid has power in the crank position if it does then bad selonoid if not possible bad ignition switch

thanks mjr yeah ever since i jumped the solenoid it start up fine with the key now i know it will do it again this has happened 2 times this week so do i have to wait to do the test? until it screws up again? i dont think its my ignition if it work on and off but maybe, could it be the starter?

More than likely it was the connection from the small wire on the solenoid or the solenoid itself. Pinch the connector (the small one) a little so it will fit nice and snug on the post where it connects.
