Default high-strength LSD

I know the LSD topic has been covered many times and yes I have searched. The reason I'm bringing it up again is b/c most of what I've read is for sub-500HP applications.

I'm planning/hoping on putting down around 600-700HP. This will be a street/strip car and will be launched on slicks at the track. Built motor with Hellion 67mm turbo kit. 1991 5.0L.

So, the question is what would be a good LSD for my application, i.e. something drivable on the street that will handle a lot of abuse on the track. It's ability to handle lots of TQ is paramount.

The ones I'm considering: Auburn Limited Slip, Eaton Posi, and the Detroit trutrac. (I heard the Detroi locker is best for the strip, but they don't make it for the 8.8".)

Any thoughts?

I am wondering the same thing...if I build the engine I want, one day I should see those 500 plus numbers (408 stroker possible turbo after that) I am building my rear this winter and want to know what to buy.

Since the trutrac is based on gears, instead of clutches, would I still need a rear end "install kit" for this diff?

Personally and this is what im doing and going to be doing. Im building my motor as we speak to put out like 550 to the wheels NA. Now the only thing I have done to my rear is 3.73 gears and its going to stay like that. Im only going to change it when it brakes and it will and when it does. Personally with that much power im just going to put a fab or regular 9 in in it and call it good. No point in having the 8.8 that is weak in there. When a even stock 9 in is so much stronger.

as primetime stated, 8.8's are not weak.
