explorer heads=more power?
was up everyone... I'm new here and had a question. The other day some guy told me that if you take the heads from an explorer (5 litre) and put them on a mustang engine that they would give you more power? has any one ever heard of this?

RE: explorer heads=more power?
Yes the explorer heads are also known as the GT-40p heads... I believe they offer more compression wich equals more bottom end torque not so much horsepower... Correct me if im wrong eveyone...

RE: explorer heads=more power?
You get a slight bump in compression as well as better flow numbers then regular GT40 heads from the Explorer units. But you will probably need some aftermarket headers as the spark plug holes are located at more of an angle on the P heads and there are clearance issues with most headers not specifically designed for the P heads.
