Yes, the horsepower increase will not be that great, but the gut wrenching torque will make this car a BLAST to drive! Horsepower wins races, but torque is what makes it fun to drive.

see thats the thing, I love being able to stab the throttle and violently break the tires loose at 30 mph. cant wait for this bump in tq. I realise my hp will be extremely limited vs whats possible and that it is like feeding my engine air with a straw. I am gonna be saving and down the road ill get some alum heads and possible nitrous/blower then a tune. a good/better h/c/i will net me close to 100whp after I get my 347 together, while still being around the ~300wh (hopefully) with ~350lb tq

it still will not be a torque/power monster..347 with a factory 302 upper end will be an utter turd..been there done it = was a utter waste of gaskets...save the money to do it properly

Make no mistake, it will make good LOW SPEED torque. That torque will begin trailing off at about 3,500 RPM. If you are like many folks with their Mustangs and routinely spin it up tighter than that, then as mjr says, you will be disappointed.

I called a local junkyard about an explorer upper and lower intake and gt40P heads. They wanted 225 for the intake and 225for the set of heads. Maybe you could look into that. I was considering an HCI and a 347 stroker kit. But Xmass is coming and I don't think my wife and kids would understand if I got my self such a nice present and they went without. I just don't have enough @$$ to anymore chewed.

I am currently using the gt40 intakes off a 96 explorer, an e303 cam, and e7's with a ton of work done to them by friend/neighboring shop and are currnetly in the hands of a race shop. Im sure he can maximize my potential hes got flow benches, etc.. Ive seen e7's make well over 300hp, not necessarily whp, but I know what Im looking for and it should satiate me. I was spinning the 302 to ~6000 but it was running like **** before it popped. Im not wanting to run it nearly that high with what Ive got now, maybe 4800-5300 TOPS. but Ive gotta run it to determine where I lose power anyways. I eventually plan on getting a nice set of holley systemax heads due to the fact they drop compression ratio a few points and still make awesome power; making it able to run boost more safely (I plan to in the next few years). right now I believe I will be about a 9.5:1 comp ratio. I got you on the money part too man, Im only 19 Im a full time college student, working, and tryin to have some fun on the side so thats why I have ****ty parts on my 347. bascially its like I HAD to get something up and going why not give it as much potential as possible for the budget? ill just keep yall updated on how this PoS runs ;]
