when my car is in 5th gear and only 5th gear, I sorta hear a hissing noise, sorta like a vacumn leak noise coming from the shifter handle... not a metallic scrape noise, nor is it a chatter.... is this normal or is a defective TOB? it shifts into all gears fine... I only get a lil resistance in 3rd on rare occasions. but its prolly just the syncro there...

Sounds like shifter whine. I bet if you press the shifter up more while in gear it gets louder or quieter. All it really is, is the sound of the trans resonating through the shifter.

ok, next time i go out for a drive I'll try... thats a good thing to know...

anyway to reduce it? new lowershifter boot? lil rubber bushing between the handle and the base where thye bolt together?

I have a steeda Tri-ax that I am not too fond of, may try to wrangle an MGW outta the rents for my birthday... haha
