I wouldn't waste my time on a 33 year old head off a Windsor. Chances are it needs guides, seats, bigger valves, springs, and a lot of porting just to make it to GT40 status. I can't think if anything with a 76 351 Windsor that is worth restoring except a pick-up so they are prob better boat anchors.

Your also going to need head bolts and tap the block unless the make some kind of adapter for those things now. I would buy a set of aftermarket heads.

They make adaptor washers to use regular head bolts and ARP makes a necked down headbolt so that not a problem. Tapping the block for me is a non-issue because I won't do it on a production roller block.

if you found a set already done up for around 300 then it's worth it....I did just that, got mine for 300 with the work already done to them....I wouldn't pay someone to do them up cause then you'd have the price of a decent set of aluminum heads almost

My dad has 2 sets of them but they probably need redone and like you said I would have the almost the price of a set of aluminum heads in them.

yeah like everyone says...unless you get a deal on factory cast iron ford heads that are done up it's not worth it unless your total investment IMO is under 500.00
