Default transmission question

I've had a newly rebuilt T-5 transmission since last summer and it is treating me well. However, i have been seriously stressing over what kind of fluid to put in it. It's bothering me because my last transmission went out when i started using gm synchromesh, and i need to get it right this time because i can't be buying a new tranny in a year.
-I changed the fluid at 500 miles with regular ATF
-Changed it again at 1000 miles and put pennzoil synchromesh in it and have been running that since.
I just ordered an MGW shifter which will be here middle of next week, and I want to change the fluid one last time and be done with it while the shifter is off. I've been researching and researching, and whenever i see "T-5 is supposed to only run ATF, and don't use synthetic because the synchros work by friction and synthetic can destroy them" i get more confused. Any input would be great, and i'll try to post pics somewhere of the mgw install.

I run amsoil synthetic atf/dextron III in mine, and others run royal purple, as long as it is atf for vehicles previously requiring Dextron III /Mercon, you'll be fine, don't worry about the BS and synthetic

Ok, i think i'll just buy a bunch of regular mercon/dexron III and flush the old stuff out. I'm sick of the guessing games and worrying if i'm hurting my new tranny. Can't wait for the shifter though!
