I put in a new cross member and the stock bolts seem much smaller the the bolt hole in the bushing the stock ones are 3/8" and the hole through the bushing can take a 1/2" bolt.
The problem is a 1/2" bolt does not fit through the holes in the chassis. Does anyone know if it would cause problems if i drilled the holes out to 1/2"?

It would cause less problem than sticking a 3/8" bolt into a 1/2" hole. If you think it may weaken it put a big washer on it and weld the brackets to the body better.
