Default wiring harness problems

ok, my wiring harness looks like a freakin jungle behind my dash. i was wondering if i could swap it with a 4cyl harness it doesnt go to the computer i believe but im surprised the last owner even got it to run!? and if anybody could post a pic or simply tell me the color of the wire that you hook up to a scanner to scan for codes is because they seemed to somehow snip that wire to and i cant seem to find it anywhere but i could trace it i guess if i knew the color. and by the way i got a 93gt.

I used a 4cyl harness under my dash. The previous owner butchered the original harness. I had shorts everywhere and nothing worked. I went to my local pick n pull and removed the entire harness from a 4cyl and Ive had zero issues with it. Note My car is a 87 and I got a 87 4cyl harness. They looked identical to me.

As long as you don't try to use a harness from a airbag car you will be fine. The wiring at the cluster is different for airbaged and non airbaged.
