Default Tune-up and drivability questions for 1995 Mustang GT 5.0

Buddy has a 95 5.0 with gears, intake, headers, exhaust... stock ignition/fuel system, just a basic bolt ons 5spd car

has a problem with stalling frequently at stop lights (check engine light is off) any known culprits for this besides vacuum leaks, IACV maybe?

also it's time to replace the plugs/wires/cap & rotor, any recommendations on these parts and/or a general tuneup/culprit FAQ?

thanks

I just bought my 1994 a couple months ago, and i had to replace a few things on it including the IACV. On mine the IACV went bad and that just made it idle really high, so i highly doubt thats his problem. I would definitely check for vaccum leaks, and also check the spark plugs and wires. My bet is it is a vacumm leak but, thats not 100 percent.

I had some idling issue with my 94, but it would only come close to stalling when engine was cold in the morning.
I got mine tuned and they burned me a new computer chip (Superchip) and now I don't even have to let the car warm up... just get in and go.
If your buddy messed with the intake maybe it does need some tuning. Not a bad idea.

He's running the stock maf tube and probe I do believe, it just stalls at warm idle and idle surges when it's not going to stall

I removed and cleaned both the MAF and teh IAC, replaced the plug wires/cap/rotor and it still does it...

It'll only do it say ~85% of the time, but the idle will surge slightly from ~800 to ~500 and back again, rhytmically...

like 800 pause pause pause 500 pause pause pause 800 pause pause pause, if you touch the wheel to engage the power steering while it's doing this it's certain to stall, otherwise it just continues this loop

didn't find any vacuum leaks either

a poor intake seal? check to make sure all the gaskets are good for teh intake. make sure the rear seal for the intake to the motor/heads is holding up

The surging is typical on our motors, especially with mods. Time for a good tuning.
