My 88 gt has a C6 living under it. My speedometer isn't working. I am going to replace the cable, gear etc (none of it is currently hooked up)

I have 255-40-17's 4.10 gears and the stock 88 speedo. and of course a C6.

Which speedometer gear do I need for the speedometer to be close?

I will be changing the gears this winter, but would like it to work in the meantime

Would I use the same chart as an AOD? if thats the case then I would need the 23 tooth gear.

I can only find a chart for the aod

you need to find out what tooth count is on the output shaft of the C6

physically count it, or can I tell by numbers somewhere on the trans
