Default water pump help!!!!

ok i have a 86 5.0, today i put underdrive pully's on my car and a new thermostat housing and a new water pump and an a/c delete braket. ok so i got the pully's and everything on and i was working on my water pump. i took the front peice off, which i beleive is the water pump but my friend said i need to take the next peice off so i can get a good seal on the gasket. i stared to take the bolts off and one of the bolts oil starting dripping off so i put it back in and call my friend a dumba$$. we got a new water pump from my same friend cause he didnt need and as far as i know it is new not remade. so we got everything on and put the gaskets and everything and put antifreeze in. about 2 min later the antifreeze is pouring out of the water pump from what looks like the bottom left bolt that also holds part of the a/c delete braket. so do you guys think i got the wrong gasket or do you think my friend was right about that plate? or do you guys think i need to get a new pump or what?? idk whatever will help i also let it set for 2 hours before i put antifreeze in

Are you able to look under the W/P housing and check if the gasket is sealed 100%. I just recently put a new water pump housing on my '88 5.0 LX and when I put the sealant on and tightened everything and refilled the radiator it started leaking after start-up. Shut it all off and double checked and the gasket didn't seal correctly it was barely off but started leaking like crazy, reset the gasket and everything's been fine since.

ok i got the new water pump on and it doesnt leak exept on the far right the bolt that goes into the block snapped off when i was loosening it. i was just hoping that it would work but tonight it proved me wrong and its leaking there. so to take the timing chain cover off do i need to take the water pump off cause i was looking and i just see i think 4 bolts that through the water pump and into the block but if at all possible i DO NOT want to take the pump back off. so can this be done? and can you guys tell me that when i need to take the 2 oil pan bolts off do i need to replace the oil pan gasket too?? i basically need a step by step guide to help me with this.

your best course of action would be replacing the entire oil pan gasket. So basically, dropping the whole pan. It can be done by just loosening the front four bolts on each side, but that method is less than favorable.

Also, yes, you can remove the cover with the pump still attached.
