Intake manifold question

Its for the ACT sensor. You need it but it doesn't have to go in the lower intake. Some people do drill and tap the hole with w 3/8NPT (I think), some people just plug the sensor in and lay it on the intake and some relocate the sensor to the intake tubing before the throttle body...

On my car i just had the sensor unpluged and left it like that. My car ran a little bit richer but at the track I did try it pluged up and unpluged, and my car ran better with it unpluged.
My buddy extended the harness and put the sensor in his intake tube.

I just drilled and tapped the boss on the Explorer intake when I had one on the car. There is a spot to drill in the #5 runner. Hard to see in this pic, but it is there. Drilled and tapped 3/8"NPT
