Default 1985 Mustang AOD trans

Hey, just bought a 1985 mustang and i am having some issues with the trans. So i am trying to find out wether or not the trans is factory or not. Does anyone have a link to a pic or something to help me identify wether it is the factory AOD or not? i have seached on google, and everyone is just calling it an AOD trans. i dont know if this is a model number type name or if thats just what people call it? Help is aprechiated

yes its an AOD
4 speed automatic, stands for "automatic overdrive"
the shifter should have 1-d-od
and the pan says "metric"
unfortunately...the '85 aod cars are cfi, and very very low hp, 165 i wanna say

ok, thank you for your info. and yes i know they were originally cfi and low HP but this car is like the hienze57 of cars lol, has like 57 different cars in it. anyhow, it has a HO fuel injected motor out of a 93. so we are good engine wise. just was trying to figure out what trans it had. thx

ok cool. fyi the AOD is a really weak trans too. prone to breakage and costly to repair

best opinion is a t5 swap, or a lentech aod

3000-3500 stall is best, any less you will be dissapointed

Yes, have been told they are weak.. was deffinantly planning on swaping to a T-5 when i get the money.
