NEED HELP ASAP!
Hey guys, I tried to start the stang this morning and I heard an electrical spark and the car wouldn't start so I popped the hood and my ground wire (running from my positive battery cable) had melted to my battery and was smoking, I touched the wire and it was VERY hot. So I put electrical tape around it (with all intentions of replacing the wire afterwards) and it hesitated to start, I pumped the gas pedal once and it finally started. All the sudden my low coolant light came on so I checked my coolant and it was just fine. So I turn off the car and wait about a minute, go out and attempt to start it again and then nothing, all of my lights, my fuel pump and everything were working and the ground wire got hot again, the engine didn't even attempt to turn over. Please help me out, I have school on Monday and I need to know what I need to do to fix this as soon as possible.

Too much resistance. Make sure that your ground wire is properly seated on the engine block and does not have corrosion of rust on it. If it does it is a simple bolt (13 or 14mm i think) and take it off. Then use a dremel or sand paper and take off all the corrosion, rust, dirt, on the wire side and the block. Install it and you should have no resistance problems at all.
That is if it is the ground causing that problem.

I had a problem similar to this, but it was the wire running from my starter solonoid to the starter, it was rubing against my headers where i couldnt see it, which caused my cables to get really hot. I also agree with Pure5.0, clean your ground wire where its grounded, I would go ahead and replace the wires, all of them, the ones going to the battery, solonoid, and the starter.

YAAY, pure and I were right, it was the ground. The spot that had melted through was right next to a wire connector, where it looked like the previous owner had extended the ground for some reason. So I snipped the ground back to the original wire reconnected it and it started right up. The low coolant light went off to, she's runnin great now.
