airbag light codes
Does anyone know the airbag codes or where I can look them up?
My light is flashing, I'm assuming, code 10. It flashes 10 times, pauses, and repeats.
My fox is a 1991 vert 5.0.
A little more info....
My horn doesn't work. During my search for codes, I read that a broken clock spring causes code 5 and the horn doesn't work. My knowledge of the srs system is limited, so if anyone can point me in the direction on how to, properly, check/change the clock spring, it would be appreciated.
Now before anyone replies with... pull the bulb, or, put a piece of tape over the light, please do not reply. If you know what code 10 is, or how to replace the clock spring....I really need your help!
One last bit of info on my car that may or may not be relevant...
The seats are out of a newer mustang. Not sure what year. They are not hooked up to a power source. (Power driver seat). Does the srs have one of those sensors in the seat, that needs power, that could be causing the code?
Thanks

No sensor in the seat...
I did just find this handy link walking down the entire air bag code system...
http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/te...91.html#CODE10
It sounds like an intermittent grounding issue fried your airbag CPU. If you plug a new CPU in it will fry again until you find the ground problem. Tape or pulling the bulb sounding good yet?
"Fault Code 10 - Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal Fuse - Open Due to Intermittent Short To Ground
Description:
NOTE: The microprocessor inside the diagnostic monitor controls the internal thermal fuse. This fuse is not serviceable. The microprocessor will open the thermal fuse whenever a short is detected in the deployment circuits. The thermal fuse does NOT open because of excessive current flowing through it. DO NOT attempt to jumper out the thermal fuse with a circuit breaker or any other type of fuse."

Hmm....
This is beginning to sound like it's going to be a pricey fix that I'll need to go to a shop for.
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, pulling the bulb is sounding better, but my OCD wouldn't allow it. Knowing that there is an issue, that needs to be fixed, would drive me insane!

I agree with your OCD... My solution (though my airbag worked) was to swap a '89 tilt column in and delete my air bag entirely. The Fox tilt sorta sucks (the WHEEL tilts, not the column) but it's a nice feature that I get some use out of. I'm fairly tall so it nice to have the adjustment.
...plus I may use my air bag warning light in the dash for something sneaky like an N2O system light...
