I done some more yesterday. I ran a wire from the battery and connected it to the back of the pump relay to see if the pump would kick over. I got the fuel pump to kick on and pump fuel all the way to the engine but the car would not start. I did not hear that noise in the engine that a mustang normally has. I'm kinda stuck again. Yes I tried the inertia switch both ressetting and holding it down. This is a longshot but would not having the exhaust sensors hooked up affect any of this, I don't have the H pipe on the car yet? Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

New info. I went to my local ford dealer and they ran the vin. The guy said all my problems are cpu oriented and the correct cpu for the car is model E9ZF. If anyone has this cpu I would happily trade a A9l for it. What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Ryan

That's the beginning of the part number, man. A9L is the calibration code. See E9ZF is a part for the year 1989, E=80's 9=89. The full part number should be E9ZF-12A60-AB or something, 12A60 being the base part number for a processor, still is to today even for 06's. I'd run an overlay for now to the fuel pump relay and check fuel pressure, triple check you're firing order, base timing (yea I know it's not running but get #1 to TDC then get the timing marks to 10BDTC and then turn the dist rotor to exactly on number one on the cap). While setting the timing, turn the key on and turn the distributor back and forth to see if you can hear the injectors fire. That'd be a good indication if the computer is doing its job driving the injectors. Let us know what's up.

Can someone link me to a pic for stock firing order? Also I did some testing with my meter again this weekend and I found that the fuel pump relay is getting power from the ignition but not clicking. I'm no mechanic but doesn't that relay trigger the injectors via the ecm? I am really getting exhausted with this car, you guys are my only hope.

Thanks,
Ryan

I fired it the other night. Car runs awesome!!!! The wire that gave power to the injectors at start was hooked into the positive battery post. I switched that wire over to the starter side of the coil and the car started right up. Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!
