Default explorer intake question

I started to do my swap today of my stock intake to the explorer intake. I got to puttin' it on and noticed there is a free sensor laying around because there is no place to put it on the backside of the explorer intake. What sensor is this? Is it ok to go ahead and put the explorer intake on and leaving the sensor free?

Thanks guys.

it's probably the air intake charge sensor. explorer intakes have boss on them for it but it's not drilled or tapped. you need to have it.

So that sensor "needs" to be put in? What would happen if it's just layin' around not plugged in?

Like someone said it is probably the ACT. You need to drill and tap it to a 3/8 NPT.

its suppose to go near the number 5 injector, if you have already installed you lower intake and dont want to pull it and get new gaskets, you can mount it into your intake tube between your mass air and throttle body

If it is just "laying around", it will send the computer a false reading on how hot your air going into the engine is. This will affect the timing, fuel and ignition curve and make it run like ****
