Default No MAF On My 88 Lx?

Hey guys im looking into buying a cold air intake for my 88 Lx.

Im just wondering why i dont have a MAF sensor on my intake? is it cause my car is 1988 or something lol? and will this change anything?

is there still a point in getting an after market cold air like this:

http://www.stangmods.com/MAC-Intake-p/00458-3388.htm

?

Because you have a speed density car and not a mass air flow car. You can change over to MAF and it might be a good way to go depending what your plans are. In general speed density car are a tad quicker when stock, however they tend not to do well with cam swaps.

Only the CA 1988 Mustangs came with mass-air from the factory....

+1, its just a piece of pipe. youd be just as good off if you got a k&n filter in the stock box

Yeah just remove the air silencer and get a good drop in filter such as a K&N etc...and since you don't have a MAF you don't have to worry about getting rid of the stock 55mm one for a larger one...

okay perfect thanks guys. right now i have the stock rubber tube with a k&n filter but the filter is extremly black and old and the filter doesnt even fit my tube properly! the previous owner used tape and a clamp to try to seal the filter onto the tube lol but it is still open a bit and all loose and hanging..

Get the stock airbox and get one of the drop in filters for it. It is already a cold air setup. Just having the filter attached to the tube in the engine bay doesn't really help.
