Default 91 GT gauge problems! HELP!!

So I picked this 91 mustang GT 5 spd up for cheap 1800 bucks. And, its in great condition. And, runs great but, the speedo didnt work. All it did was bounce around and you could hear a ticking coming from the dash. So, I bought a new used dash cluster. When I put it in, the tach started to stick and the voltage gauge didnt work. The speedo somewhat worked, still bouncing but not as bad. It would tell you the speed but I think it was off.

I took it apart and swapped the tach and voltage gauge from the old cluster to the new but, when I got it all back in the tach worked and all the guages but the fuel gauge. And, the rest were all off they didnt read correctly. Ive already checked the speedo cable and pin they look good. Could the speed sensor be the issue? I just wouldnt think it would be cause you can still hear ticking in the speedo! Did I miss something when I put it back together?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

the problem is the cable. its a known issue. you need to replace it. when you get the new one, make sure you use some "cable ease" on it to protect it and lengthen its life
