Cash for Clunkers ruined GT40 heads!
It does take a few minutes to do it correctly,. you are suposed to drain the oil, put a couple quarts of oil in along with the sodium silicate. it will run for a few minutes and just slowly lock up. it more damaging to the internals that way. I forget the exact amount but its a mixture. i only did two vehicles at my small chevy dealership, including a nice 88 firebird formula with 350 tpi, 4wheel disk brakes.. made me sad but oh well. and most junk yards will let you buy parts off the engine including the heads. the law states that you cant sell the motor but you can sell the parts. i bought two sets of vortex heads off of cfc cars for 50 bux a set. they were basicly undamaged, i cleaned them up, installed new valve seals and stuck em on my 96 tahoe. i have the other in the atic. BTW sodium silicate is just bars stop leak.... same exact **** except alot cheaper.
If it was lasting minutes it wasn't mixed strong enough. I did like two cars correctly and got bored, so then i started to use less and watered the hell out of it and then I was able to make cars go for a while.
