My factory tach has never worked even before the MSD. I just bought another gauge cluster and a new MSD 6AL2. The new MSD has a gray tach wire. So can I use this wire with the factory tach? Anyone know which wire it goes to at the cluster

 

not sure on your year model but, I am guessing it will read wrong. I had an 83 one time that would not work properly with that wire. The wire is made for aftermarket tachs i believe because, it worked properly before putting on the msd.

The 93 I have worked fine without the tach wire. All i did was plug it into the coil and didn't use the tach wire.

 

well maybe my factory wiring is bad I cant find a dash wiring diagram for the 86 if anyone has one saved can you post a link thanks

I don't know what to tell you on that. If it has one of these, like mine did, probably not.


I looked and found nothing on a wiring diagram. Found one for an 87 but, no luck on the 86. I would start a new thread asking for a wiring diagram for an 86 and someone with access to one may see it.
