it takes just a few minuets to change one after the cars off the ground if thats what your asking

The longest part is just rotating it and breaking the bolts loose. It makes it quicker to have someone inside the car to put it in gear/park to keep it locked to break them.

If you are asking about the hour because a shop is doing it its because they charge an hour at a minimum usually.

Go buy a set of jack stands and a long 12mm 12 point wrench... Do it yourself.

I would use a punch and mark the flange on the rear end before removing anything.
It's good to have the drive line in phase when installing it.
The whole thing is easily done, do it yourself.....

I laugh when I hear people say this or worry that they didn't do it. I mean its not a bad idea BUT the driveshaft installs in any position and will go in at any point in its rotation. It is also balanced....or supposed to be.... on a machine, not on the car so its position doesn't matter.

also what happens when you install a set of gears in the rear.....that mythical position will never hold true then
