Many oil questions for 2013 GT
#21
You know, the cold start is the most important for keeping the wear down, but going from 20 to 50 weight oil seems a bit of a stretch. I would bet there are oil system changes including a recalibration of the cam phasers which work off of oil pressure... but maybe I'm wrong.

it all comes down to your oil temp. Off the top of my head one lubricates better at 215 degrees instead of one that lubricates better at 200. so if you know the precise oil temp you normally drive in you'll know whether to use 20 or 30 or higher. I have heard for normal highway driving the car is at like 195 degrees. so the 20w is better for me for 99.99% of my driving.
then you have the cold start, 5w vs 10w, if you live in a warm climate where you wont see below 70 degrees I say fine use 10w. I live in the frigid north, 0w or 5w is best for me.
So it all comes down to how and where you'll be driving.
from what I understand though modern oils are so much better than they were even 20 years ago it doesn't really matter as long as you stick to the general range specified, i've never heard of anyone reporting engine wear or a bad oil report from using 5w20 vs 10w30.
