so i take it eD makes pretty good subs? i like their prices.

so I have one more question for the experts here, it may sound stupid but stick with me

is this correct to asume....the red wire (bat. cable) needs to be run to the bat. with a fuse as well, while the black cable (unknown but same size) needs to be run to the radio itself and that small blue one in the pic. needs to be run to the radio unit as well to tell the amp to turn on and off?

if so do I need speaker wire to run to the back speakers? No right? is there anything else I should know?

ok, iv read a lot and learned a lot over the last few days (thanks for all the info and suggetions)

i got my hands on a sub box setup made for mustangs with the mach460 that holds two 12"s
I have decided to get two 12" Kenwood KFC-W3011 subs and a Kenwood KAC-8403 amp 180 rms x 2 I believe and the subs are 400 (great deal on them 200 total)

now correct me if im wrong: I connect the 8 gauge bat. cable to the amp, the 8 gauge cable from the radio to the amp, the smaller wire to the radio(to tell amp on/off) to the amp, then speaker wire from the amp to the two mounted subs......and thats it?

im sorry if my questions seem stupid but i have NEVER gotten into car audio untill recently, and I am still learning!

Obviously you haven't learned anything. Those subs, amp and pre-made box are garbage. What a waste of money. It is always better to have a dedicated 1ch amp running your subs. That amp would be better running a component set and even then it would be weak because it is a Kenwood amp.

A couple comments

1. Sandcracker - You really didn't read anything anyone said and you have purchased a terrible setup for a decent price. I would have spent less, buying only one ED 12 and it would have blown that system out of the water. Prefab boxes aren't really that great. The box needs to be designed for the subs, there is science behind it, its not just put it in.

2. 04 V6 - Your equipment might sound good for a best buy system, but any reputible car audio shop would destroy that setup for close to what you paid with the discount.

well i have my box and subs and amp (not the kenwood ones after all)

I have the ground wire, the bat. cable, the wire to tell the amp on/off, but i need a signal cable...

i have heard that we can tap into our rear speakers or run it to the HU...which is better? Which is easier?

i appretiate all the help you have all been giving me

It is easier to tie into the rear speakers and use an LOC, it is better to run an RCA to the back of the HU.

Run it to the HU.

i watched a video on crutchfield.com that showed them do it, and it looked like a componant cable from a dvd player to a tv,(from amp to HU) just pluged in....is this the case? i took it to a small shop near me to ask a few question the other day and the guy told me that it would have to be soddered(sp?) in to the HU, and that taping the rear speakers would be easier and recommended

i would rather do a little more work to get a better result though, were can i find the signal wire for a Kicker zx300.1 amp? I still have the stock mach460 HU by the way?

Ttocs has a thread out on the 8's he installed. Follow the link to his car domain and it has some great tutorials on wiring into the mach 460.
