For the 2005+ mustang, will any 6x8 speaker fit into the door or is fabrication required.

most will fit,but you have to watch out for how deep they are.

you can also fit a 6.5 if you want to. Depth normally is not an issue unless you get some huge speakers.

Cruchfield.com has a good "fit my car" tool. I have found that less than half of the available 5x7 / 6x8 speakers (coaxils, anyway) will fit with no modification to the car. Components are a good bet, but you'll have to figure out the tweeter issues.
