mp3 gripe
Why is it that the paltry mp3 player in my pocket will store more music than every in-dash mp3-playing stereo combined? I find it ridiculous that manufacturers aren't putting hard drives or at least large flash drives inside car readios. Why the heck not...
I say any car stereo calling itself an mp3 player should have 10's of GB of internal storage with USB and/or bluetooth connectivity for transferring files.
"Hey, Bob, that's a sweet $500 touch screen DVD/CD/mp3 stereo you got there - how many mp3's will it hold"? Bob "uh, none". Now that's freakin ridiculous.
Like I want to haul an ipod and/or flash drive in the car every time I want to hear mp3s.

Sony had a headunit(non-touch screen) a couple years ago that had a flash drive for storage and pioneer had the avic-z1 and z2 that had a harddrive for nav. and putting music on there last year and the year before, but those decks were very pricey.
I guess you understand when it says mp3,wma,acc it will let you play those types of format on a cd,flash drive, etc.
OK so if you spend $1000 (for example) for that sony headunit (that is what it went for a couple years ago) and that was stolen out of your car plus any other cds you had lying around in there too. You would be out a alot of money(hopeful insurance would take care of it for you).
OR
You buy a pioneer headunit (for example) for $200 with a USB and you hook up or ipod or buy a couple flash drives(for $30) and you do not keep your cds in your cd anymore bc you have all your music on your ipod or flash drive. Now your car is broken into and they steal your radio and your ipod or flash drive which is about half or less then half of the money you spend in the first set up.
I just keep my Ipod in the car.I use my ipod all the time or my sat. radio. So if my car is broken into again(like it was a couple years ago) they will not steal all my cds agian(250 cds gone). They will just take my Ipod that cost $300 if they can find where I install my ipod cable at for it.
