New wiring fried
I spent the last few days installing my new under dash wiring. I had everything hooked up and hooked up the battery to check it out before putting the dash back together, and everything worked great! So I put the dash back together and ensured everything was nice and pretty. Then I hooked the battery back up and before I looked up, the car was full of smoke! I yanked the positive cable as quickly as possible.
After clearing the smoke, which quickly subsided after unhooking the battery, and a few expletives, I took the instrument panel back out. I found that one of the wires had somehow fried and went through the main bundle. I also noticed one of the wires had pulled out of a multiplex plug.
I talked to the distributor where I got the harness today and they are cool with me returning it, and they are sending me a new one. I will get a refund when the fried harness gets back to them. I've already got the old one in the mail and I got shipping confirmation of the new one this afternoon. Shouldn't take me too long to put it in when it gets here, now that I have done it.

Hate when the smoke comes out of the wires, old British cars are known for it. At least you caught it before everything went up in flames. Good luck with the new harness, was VERY cool of them to send you a new one.
