You could do the GT40 heads or the late Explorer heads, they make for a good running inexpensive engine... Just an idea.

i have some 351w do0e heads. they flow as much as gt-40s and have bigger valves then the rest of the heads. will work on your 289.

$300 shipped (heavy). they were pulled off a 69 351W. They are stock and complete.
