Default Safety first! So how about a racing harness?

Anyone ever install a racing harness in a fastback WITHOUT a roll bar?

I'm giving serious consideration to the harness pictured, but am baffled as to where to mount the shoulder harness. [sm=smiley29.gif]

A rear seat delete IS NOT an option (at this point), and neither is a roll bar (at this point), and I'd like the rear seat fold-down to be functional. [sm=insomnia.gif]

Any suggestions? [sm=helpout.gif] Many thanks in advance.

Unless you are going to take out your headliner and weld a mounting point to you roof, I think you will need a rollbar to mount it. I doubt the roof would be strong either.

Yeah, those are designed to hook up to the roll bar.

5 point racing harnesses aren't designed to be used without a roll bar/cage. The problem being that the 5 point harness keeps you in a completely upright position, whereas the vehicle's roof will collapse if impacted. By keeping your body completely upright, with a caving in roof, you basically ensure your death, whereas with a 3 point system, your body can move sideways or down in the seat to prevent death.

Same with a roll bar and the 5 point. The roll bar/cage prevents the roof from caving in, thereby restraining your body with the 5 point system, while preventing you from being crushed.
