Just remember, just because people spend time in front of your car (not pointing fingers at anyone in particular) at shows doesn't always mean they like what they see. I spend time at a lot of shows in front of some of these cars wondering "what the hell were they thinking".
You can point fingers at whom ever you want...I look at some of those restored cars and wonder why weren't they thinking for themselves!

to each his own and a matter of different tastes sure, not thinking for themselves.....whatever.

I got away from points to a pertronix unit, radials, different cam, intake, carb., headers and exhaust. I just chose to keep the "look" of the car original. Why? Because I think they did it right the first time.

I can honestly tell you, assuming the price isnt REDICULOUS (which im sure it will be ) I would buy a reproduced body for a 67. That way I could cut/modify up the wazoo and not feel like im destroying something
that should be left as original (IMO).

the original eleanor was definitely a cool car, especially because of the abuse it took. But, it was not a boss. Also, I have heard some rumors that Dynacorn is in fact planning on making 67 fastbacks. The only major obstacle they have to overcome at this point is working out the details with Ford
you're right, i got confused last night, it's a mach 1. either way, the 67 shelby and the 73 mach 1 are two totally different beasts. personally, the look of the 73 is more unique than damn near anything on the road. i would prefer a 73 over a 67 anyday, not that there's anything wrong with a 67. Whatever trips your trigger.....it's like 20 years ago when every '65 and '66 was a potential GT350 clone. If it's yours and you like it, so be it!

65 mustang was done right. The Ford GT was done right. The new Cobra was done right. Ford took over the car world with the Tempo and the Taurus. I don't like them but they had a good idea. The 55 T-bird was done right. In short, I disagree.

They made a million first gen cars in two years. They were cheap American sports cars of the era. They were pumping so many out that the paint, fit/finish was average and they carried a lot of mechanical aspects over from the Falcon and some from the T-Bird. They were not revolutionary from an engineering standpoint but very stout and solid. The aesthetic/cosmetic design of the 65-66 Mustang was perfect in many eyes and is still considered one of the greatest icons in American automobile history.

The trend currently seems to be the "resto-mod" thing which is fine b/c it is a way of expressing individual tastes and it's your own car. I tend to be more of a purist so safety/power mods seem to be the extent to my liking. But when you start physically changing the appearance of the car is when I lose interest. The Mustang has held it's popularity over the years b/c it is a great looking car. Cosmetic mods and trends change over time and tend to look dated. As long as another owner can change it back go for it, but there is no way to change back those E cars to their original 67fb status. The original car and VIN are gone forever.
