I liked the car in the movie, and if someone wants to restomod their fastback, more power to 'em. I agree that your car should be a reflection of you--the owner. I disagree with the post that the 65-66 was the Miata of its era. In following with Ford's tradition, it was a car for the masses. It was a sporty car that could haul the family. I'm sure that everyone who saw the 66 Shelby pass them on the track were not wondering if a woman was out driving it to the grocery store. When I am out driving my 66 coupe, I get nothing but compliments. And, I am pretty sure that there are no misconceptions about my gender, or masculinity.

65 mustang was done right. The Ford GT was done right. The new Cobra was done right. Ford took over the car world with the Tempo and the Taurus. I don't like them but they had a good idea. The 55 T-bird was done right. In short, I disagree.
[8D] = messing around, joking, kidding, not serious. I was making fun of Ford because with the exception of the Mustang and GT's the new Ford's suck IMO.

Was the original Gone In 60 Seconds good? I don't like a lot of the originals like Mr. Deeds for example...the remake was better

I hate to see anyone cut up an original car. With that said, what is the difference in cloning a Shelby verses the Eleanor out of a 6 cyl? I think either way it increases the value and I would rather have a clone or an Eleanor than a 6 cyl. Just me.

IMO, the origional gone in 60 seconds was good. in lots of ways better than the remake, but they were equally good, IMO!

i have a I6 and can't wait to convert it to a V8. i know this will cost me a lot and will be a major headach, but the end result is worth it.

I have to admit, Eleanor renewed my interst in Mustangs when I saw the movie. I think the one is enough. Once Unique and other companies started making all the clones Eleanor lost a great deal of her appeal to me. Not to mention what it has done to the prices, it has made what was once an affordable project car cost a king's ransome, a great deal more than most working class enthusiasts can afford.

I have seen a lot of "restomods" that are not Eleanors that look really nice. That is one of the things I like about our hobby, you can do your own thing if that's what you want, or you can do an exact concourse restoration. To each their own. If you are un-original and want to buy an Eleanor clone already built and you have the money to do so, that is your choice. However don't knock the guys who toils and sweat to build/restore/restomod his stang the way he wants.

for the most part 65-66, were chick cars the miata of the 60s.
Thems fightin words!
Actually the verts are a bit feminine, the coupes a bit less, but the fastback is definitely a man's car. Ask Carrol Shelby.
