Default Gauges

So im doing some "custom" gauges with the Z-Series gauges from Autometer.
This ist he bezel im going to use :
http://www.kanterperformance.com/htm...nt_cluste.html
(probably with the aluminum inlay)
the two 3 3/8 gauges are : Tach, Speedo.

4 2 1/16 im not too sure about, thats why im going to ask you guys
What I'm thinkin: Clock, Fuel level (definately fuel lvl hehe) water temp (which one!? 120-240 or 140-280?) and then fuel pressure or oil pressure but i dont know how many PSI for those. Which one do you guys think?
Oil or Fuel pressure? how many psi for those? and how many degrees for the water temp? Thanks guys!

Well, if you are not racing it, I would go with oil pressure. The gauge you will want to use is going to depend on if you have a stock oil pump, high pressure pump, or high volume pump. Your pressure range is probably going to be different enough that one gauge will not work sufficient for all 3 types.

On water temp I would go with the higher one. Usually you will have a 180 or 190 thermostat in there. The higher one will give you a little better range since you are more concerned with anything over about 180.

oil pressure is a must, good range is 15 to 80 lbs. anything less than 15 is shutoff time and you dont want more than about 65 lbs even when cold, you can split oil filters if you are too high on oil pressure. Water temp range, I would use the 140 to 280 range, fuel pressure really isnt something that needs to be closely monitored on a carb engine, usually 5 to 9 lbs of fuel pressure to the carb is plenty. Fuel pressure is much more important to injected engines under race conditions, where you have pressures at injector over 500psi.

If you are going with Auto meter they specify what guage to use on fuel. I think the cut off was Fords prior to 1987 and after 1987. I would go with volt meter, fuel level, water temp and oil pressure.
