Never found that you need a spacer with an aluminum intake. The aluminum disapates enough heat that it will not boil the fuel in the carb. I run my wieand stealth intake with out a spacer and it runs fine. Holley 570 carb.

I remember now Glen.. Forgot about that. Its been too long since I messed with a 289! I too have found that the aluminum intakes dont heat soak the carb as bad. Its common practice with aftermarket intakes to bolt the carb directly to the manifold. Spacers help and some engines respond better with one, usually engines with out enough plenumn volume.

Sorry about the PCV thing... still have GM on the brain! I will do better to remember to think Ford...
