Is there a trick to installing new sun visors on new visor rods? My new set on my '65 has no tension, the visors swing freely on the rods. Can they be tightened? I've verified the thickness of the new rods is the same as the old rods.

Sounds like you missed the hole. There's a metal spring clip hole shaped like a triangle you have to go through. And they generally don't go on very easily...
