Default RE: intake swap pics

cool got a notebook going of info

i have an edelbrock performer intake and 500cfm carb coming

i keep reading about kickdown adapter and throttle cable adapters

now my questions turn to this mystery

first of all i dont have a throttle cable its a rod from the pedal to the carb
i have seen other mustangs that actually have a rod going from the carb to the tranny (it was a C6) that the carb linkage has to hit in order to put the tranny into passing gear.

again i dont have this my C4 is put into a lower gear by vacuum i am assuming because the only rod is the accellerator rod hooked to the pedal and if i unplug the vacuum line from the brake booster to the tranny it wont go into passing gear.

Some early Stangs have the kick down on the lower part of the accelorator linkage, down by the exaust manifold outlet. What year is yours?

its a 68.
one of the early 68s that got a 289 in it
i know it has a cable from the tranny to the pedal down low like you cant see it unless you are under the car

cool thats what i thought but that is the part that confused me
i dont see why that part should attach to the new edelbrock if it doesnt attach to the old 2bbl

or is that linkage adapter only for those that had the rodfrom carb to tranny already

thanks for putting up with the basic questions
summit racing was no help the tech there told me that all fords have a solid linkage that goes from the carb to the tranny
and i know thats not true because mine didnt and i knew i had a passing gear from somewhere

anyone else got any ideas on this

the kick down currently goes from the bottom of the pedal to the tranny

will i need to rig something different with my 4bbl since the factory 2bbl didnt need a kickdown rod from the carb to the tranny

No, you'll be fine. The linkage adapter is only for setups that had a kickdown connected at the carb.

sweet, thanks for all the help

totallly differant than
my first stang. itwas a 69 grande with a 390
it had the kickdown that went from the carb back
my dad tricked my by not attaching carb linkage so it wouldnt go into gear
once i found out the ruse it was like a whole different car
