I suggest a kill switch for petty thiefs. And for the flatbed trucks which is what is used out here i california i suggest lowjack. they have a 90% recovery rate and if they done recover your car within 30 days they pay you 2,500. plus lowjack can be hiddin very well. dont put a low jack sticker on your window because then they will now to look for and disable it.
kill switches? How do those work? How much and effective are they? They sound like that might be the best option. I do have a great alarm system with motion detectors but this kill switch sounds great. Any direction?

Yeah Glen, its a switch in a hidden location that kills all electrical flow, or does not allow the coil to ground. If you switch the ground side, and they hotwire it, it still wont work..
its not a complete circuit. its just a way of preventing someone who doesnt know what it is or where it is from starting the car.
FYI.. I can have a pre 70 vehicle running in less than a minute. Wont tell how, but it isnt hard. A break in the ignition or start system would prevent that.. an alarm sometimes works, sometimes not. if it pages you thats a bonus..
Lojack is a great idea..

same as what soaring said only you hide the switch somewhere. mine is a push button underneath the carpet to the side of the shifter. no would know, until now that it is there. that button needs to be pushed in order for the car to start.
