So Close!
The closest strip is 60 miles away, and there aren't many kids with turbos at my school. I have a 302 with a Holley 4-barell carb, a K&N air filter, Comp Cam .274 and .555., and dual flowmaster 40's.
*knock on wood*
Never been in a wreck that I've been behind the wheel. Been in many that I have either driven out, around or stopped before it got nasty. Been in the passanger seat in 3 wrecks. 2 not so bad and 1 I was on the side that got T-boned at 55 mph. That scared the **** out of me and I was only 15 yrs old. We werein a 73'Mercury Montego MX and my mom slammed on the brakes in a pouring rain storm. We ended up sideways in on coming traffic and a guy in a Ford Courier truck didn't have time to react and there ya go.
The guy got hurt pretty bad, all I got was glass in the face and a few bruises. My mom freaked out of course and the cop wrote her the ticket for beind an idiot and slamming on the brakes. We still kid her about it. She just froze.
Anyway - don't beat the new ride. You'll figure it out though. When you gotta fix the ***'ups, it'll get your attention.

I grew up racing on west Texas highways. Just about every Saturday night we would go out of town a few miles and drag. Now, west Texas has about 6 people per 100 square miles.
Thinking back on it.....we were so stoopid. I don't know how we survived growing up. Racing in town from light to light is REALLY stoopid. There are about 52 things that can happen, and they are all bad. If you want to race, drive the 60 miles and have a ball.

I'm not going to race every single Friday or Saturday night, but if someone challenges me I'm not going to back down if I don't want to. I've been in two accidents (both of which I was a passenger), a roll over and head-on. I'm not going to wreck my car just racing now and then.
I knew a guy that was challanged to play Russian Roulette. (The key word knew). Follow Soarings advice, drive the 60 miles, if you or yourfriends have something to prove, thentakeit tothe track. And if you loose it, maybe you won't take someone with you.Keep it off the public roads. Oh yeh, I've meet at least a 1000 peoplewho had thesame thoughts(I'm not going to wreck or thought it would never happen to me).[sm=badidea.gif]

Well It is good that you know your not invicible, but like you I would take the challenge but only if there were no others around. There are definately conditions, but the track is still the safest place.
