Default So it starts.

The drive selector is loose on my auto transmission. When I shift into drive, the handle is really loose and rocks back and forth. To go about tightening it, do I need to go under teh car? I haven't gotten the car home yet since I just bought it, but I noticed that when I drove it and now i'm just asking since that car is all I've been thinking about today.

ya i did this when i first got mine. i disconnected the handle from the tranny. the bottom of the handle is hooked onto a parallel (to the tranny) rod that u can unhook. just make sure when hook the handle back up it's in the same gear as when u disconnected it.....like, lets c....park? i messed that one up, couldnt figure out for a day y my car was all messed up[8D]

both...you have to get under the car to detach the shift linkage and then you can pull out the whole shifter assembly from the top. the hardest part is getting the shift lever off the pivot because they are pressed on. its only like an hour to an hour and a half project tops.
